1. Game Overview
Doom I on Steam is a classic first-person shooter where players navigate through various maps while battling enemies. For this tournament, we'll be playing Deathmatch mode where players compete against each other directly.
The tournament will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 22, 2025, as part of the Golden Oldies LAN event. Players will compete in a deathmatch format with basic tournament rules.
The primary goal is to frag (eliminate) other players to earn points. The player with the highest frag count at the end of each match wins.
3. Scoring System
3.1 Match Scoring
- Primary Factor: The player with the highest frag count at the end of the time limit wins the match.
- Match Duration: Each match will last 10 minutes.
4. Equipment and Setup
4.1 Hardware Requirements
- Players must use their own PCs at the LAN venue.
- Players must bring their own keyboard, mouse, and mousepad.
- No custom controllers or hardware modifications are allowed.
4.2 Software Settings
- Game version: Latest version of Doom I on Steam
- No mods or custom configurations are allowed.
5. Player Conduct
5.1 General Rules
- Players must arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled match time.
- Each player may play live on screen for audience viewing.
- Pausing during gameplay is not permitted except for technical issues verified by a tournament administrator.
- If a bug/exploit is part of the game, then players are allowed to use it unless specifically banned by tournament officials.
- Players must respect officials' decisions.
5.2 Prohibited Actions
- Using unauthorized software or hardware
- Interfering with opponents physically or verbally
- Receiving coaching during active gameplay
- Intentionally disconnecting from a match
- Unsportsmanlike conduct or excessive toxicity
6. Match Procedures
6.1 Map Selection Process
- Maps will be selected from the official tournament map pool.
- The order of maps will be determined by tournament officials.
6.2 Tournament Gameplay
- All matches may be performed infront of a live audience.
- Each match has a 10-minute time limit.
- The player with the highest frag count at the end of the time limit wins the map.
- Players must follow the match schedule provided by tournament administrators.
6.3 Technical Issues
- In case of a technical issue, players must notify a tournament administrator immediately.
- If a match is interrupted due to technical issues, tournament administrators will decide whether to restart the match or continue from the point of interruption.
6.4 Post-Match
- Any disputes must be raised immediately after the match.
- Tournament administrators have the final say in all dispute resolutions.
7. Tiebreaker and Special Rules
7.1 Match Ties
- If both players have the same frag count at the end of a match, a 2-minute sudden death round will be played on the same map.
- In sudden death, the first player to score 2 frags wins.
7.2 Tournament Ties
- In case of ties in the group stage, ties will be broken in the following order:
- 1. Head-to-head result
- 2. Total frag difference across all matches
- 3. Total frag count across all matches
- 4. Tiebreaker match

9. Rule Modifications
The competition committee reserves the right to modify these rules before the tournament. Any changes will be communicated to all registered participants at least 14 days before the event.
